Never Get to Heaven in an Empty Shell - Review
There's a lovely feeling when you know you are watching a sharp piece of writing and even more so when a fantastic actor performs it, and that is the experience with Never Get to Heaven in an Empty Shell.
With lightning-fast delivery, Fielding drives the one-person show about a young woman feeling the loss of her father and the empty, numb shell she has become.
An especially interesting moment is an original song playing while Fielding has an on-stage cleaning montage right before us—a classic film trope played before our eyes in real-time.
There are brilliant twists and turns, with lighting and sound queues included due to the insightful direction that makes it feel like a dance at points.
A show that will not allow you to think about death or escalators the same way again.
