I will start by saying I am not a Shakespeare kind of guy. I don't actively seek out adaptations of his classics. However, this production of MacBeth came to my attention through word of mouth and I was told it is unlike any of the Bard I have seen, and WOW were they right.
Kiwi outfit The Barden Party present an unbelievably high energy performance incorporating modern folk, country, bluegrass, and Americana music into the classic tale.
They sing with such passion and conviction, each of them could be a finalist on X Factor.
Add on to that brilliant performances that feature Shakespeare's original lines, done with such a love and respect for the source material that it makes you learn to love it as well.
THIS is how you get people to love Shakespeare!
Have them perform this in every school and town in the world, NOW!
