The Dark Room - REVIEW
I've said this a few times, but this show is true Fringe Comfort Food.
It happens every night, and you KNOW it will be an incredible show that is different every time. Whenever I bring a friend or family member to the Fringe, this needs to be on the schedule because it will always be an easy win.
John Robertson has been taking this show to the Fringe for around 10 years and each year the word grows to what has become a cult following.
Robertson dons his over the top persona complete with corset, American football shoulder pads with spikes added, and flashlight shining directly on his face, ready to take the absolute piss out of anyone and everyone in the crowd.
His mind-to-mouth time is truly the fastest I have ever seen and with the highest success rate. He even digs in deep with his humor with a broad knowledge of any profession or topic. At our show there was a philosophy major, and he made jokes that were well-researched in philosophy, but funny for the crowd. It's how The Big Bang Theory wanted their show to be.
That would be enough, but then the ridiculously well-constructed text-adventure game the show is based around brings it to another level of fun and excitement full of catchphrases that fans scream at the correct time and the entire crowd know by heart by the end.
This show is a Fringe institution, and deserves to be a worldwide phenomena. Each city with their own Robertson and Dark Room theatre.
