Storytelling and....Chicken (?) at Edinburgh Fringe 2024
For some odd reason, three original written dramas this year focus on seeing the world through the premise of a chicken. Maybe to get a leg up, or get a thigher position in the theatre wing world. Here are the shows for you to KF-See:
Chicken Shows at Edinburgh Fringe 2024
Chicken
The most simply named. This show is returning from last year at the Edinburgh Fringe in the same venue where I actually heard rave reviews about it. From the description:
"A chicken's brain is the size of a walnut. But their hearts are as big as the universe. A play about love, fate, delicious white meat and adventure. There's a chicken in the Summerhall basement and she's dying to meet you."
Aug 1-11
Summerhall - Former Womens Locker Room
16:15 - 17:15
3 Chickens Confront Existence
From the description:
"Three factory farm chickens attempt to find a greater sense of purpose by engaging each other in a series of philosophical debates, games, feuds and emotional experiments while awaiting their imminent trip to the broiler." This one features three people in chicken outfits and is most likely filled with empathy by the buckets.
Aug 1-6, 8-11, 13-18, 20-26
Assembly Roxy - Downstairs
16:35 - 17:35
How to Kill a Chicken
From the description: "On my 29th birthday I died. And went to Heaven. Only it didn't happen in that order...'. A tropical rollercoaster of love, sex and margaritas. A birthday that turns her world upside down. From the golden shores of Costa Rica to the depths of her past, in this journey through paradise, surfboards and salsa nights collide with the raw truths of female sexuality. 'I'm saying no – maybe I'm not saying it loud enough because he doesn't hear it?" Not the most chicken forward, but definitely will involve them somehow, this will be a show of a life changed.

Underbelly, Bristo Square - Daisy
