Few shows have you leaving the theatre realizing you've just witnessed life-changing art.

Derek Mitchell: Goblin exceeds this feeling.

With an innocent start as his emo self trying to survive his blunder years, young Elliot starts by speaking to the audience, his imaginary "Goblin" with juvenile humor and adorable audience participation.

The show evolves as young Elliot begins to discover his sexuality and tries to fulfill his dream of being spooned and loved.

This leads to a tumultuous relationship with a reality TV star far too old for him.

The show's shift in tone catches you off guard, but the time Mitchell takes to build your love and care for this character is rewarded ten fold. There is a transformation where Elliot becomes an entirely different version of themself, and at the end we are visited again by young Elliot and realize just how much this journey has changed him and how much we care for innocent, young Elliot.

Truly a piece I am still thinking and talking about. Mitchell gives an award winning performance acting flawlessly with voiceover and playing multiple characters on his own.

Truly a MUST SEE.
