Colin Cloud: Consequences - Review
Colin Cloud is an enigma. With a long CV of Vegas, TV, cruise, touring shows, and celebrity engagements, he has had his share of fame.
In his return to Fringe after five years, he brings it all with Consequences, a lightning-fast illusion, mind-reading, and magic show that starts a bit slow, with excited Cloud having difficulty clearly explaining his setup and helping his volunteers from the audience to do as he pleases, but ultimately ending with a grand finale.
The quality of any magic show can be influenced by the quality of the volunteers from the audience, and Cloud is incredibly lucky. At one point, a young Scottish man yells, "WHAT THE F**K?" as Colin correctly guesses his birthday while having the man's girlfriend onstage for the next mind trick.
Although the tricks are objectively incredible and hard to do, it is a little difficult to like the show. Colin's quips consistently fail to make the crowd laugh, which is also hard to do, and the ending was one of those way too-good-to-be-true moments that completely takes you out of it.
