BITCH - Review

A story of a breakup told by one woman through song, standup, monologue and more, BITCH is a dynamic experience.
BITCH features some of the most impressive makeup and lighting effects I have seen where she is herself at the piano with some designs on her face, and then by the microphone she turns into her ex boyfriend and the lights project a beard on her face. Smart way to switch characters.
The male character however is tough to make sense of. There is a great subreddit called 'menwritingwomen' with examples of writing where men obviously do not know how women work. This show is an example of 'womenwritingmen', as the male character is not at all how a man would act. This could have been the intention, but there was not enough in the show to confirm one way or the other, leaving an unlikeable confusion.
The singing is beautiful and some of the songs are catchy, but the lyrics are overly juvenile to the point of cringe.
The ending is solid as she has a tough conversation with another woman at a party that dives into gender and misogyny, but it came too little too late.
